Why I enjoy working at RMGS...
I enjoy working at RMGS because of our rich history and what we call the RMGS spirit. There is a real sense of community couched in our values of curiosity and belonging.
Why I enjoy teaching my subject...
I have the pleasure of teaching Philosophy and Social Science, these subjects inspire curiosity, understanding and compassion. I believe education should inspire young people to think in order to make positive social change, philosophy and the social sciences do exactly that.
Mrs E Horsrtup – Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead

Why I enjoy working at RMGS...
I enjoy working at RMGS because of the students and the staff. There is a genuine community spirit in our school, and our students are wonderful, caring, inquisitive young people who make me smile. Our staff want the absolute best for our students, and they are proud professionals who are loyal and dedicated.
Why I enjoy teaching my subject...
I love teaching English because it is a subject that is accessible and relevant to everyone. It is a subject that opens our minds and our hearts, and one that sparks creativity. I am passionate about the value of reading and the empathy, mindfulness, and knowledge that the practice of reading creates.
Mrs K Robbins - Assistant Headteacher
Why I enjoy working at RMGS...
I love working at my school because of the incredible staff, the wonderful pupils, and the strong sense of community spirit that binds us all together. The staff are supportive, collaborative, and dedicated to making a positive difference, while the pupils bring energy, curiosity, and joy to every day. The community spirit is deeply motivating, as everyone works together to create a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant environment where we can all thrive and grow. It’s a privilege to be part of such a special place.
Why I enjoy teaching my subject...
I love teaching PE because it combines my passion for physical activity with the opportunity to inspire and educate students about the importance of health, fitness, and teamwork. Teaching GCSE and A-level PE is especially rewarding as I get to delve deeper into the science, psychology, and strategies behind sport, helping students develop a thorough understanding of the subject. It’s exciting to see their confidence grow as they improve their skills, knowledge and ability.
Mr A Smith – Assistant Headteacher - SENCO
Why I enjoy working at RMGS...
The articulate way in which our students conduct and convey themselves every day is nothing short of amazing. This and the brilliant professionalism and expertise of our staff, make Rainham Mark an incredibly special place to work.
Why I enjoy teaching my subject...
I trained as a teacher, to give something back to the subject that I love and see if I could help to inspire the future generations in the field of chemistry. My favourite topics to teach are rates at GCSE an organic synthesis at A-Level, topics which, in my opinion, best relate chemistry to real-life situations.
Mr M Brown – Assistant Headteacher
Why I enjoy working at RMGS...
I love working at RMGS mainly because of the amazing students. They are inquisitive and eager to learn, and this makes for a great school to lead, teach and be part of. The staff are nurturing and are always willing to go the extra mile for the benefit of the students and this makes me proud to be part of the RMGS community.
Why I enjoy teaching my subject...
The subjects I teach, History and Politics, are great subjects to teach. Both encourage critical thinking, analytical skills, and debate, all of which, students at RMGS strive to develop.
Ms S Gooding - Assistant Headteacher - Head of Sixth Form
Why I enjoy working at RMGS...
Our students are a brilliant bunch – inquisitive, inspiring and often great fun. Our staff are equally fab and lovely people to be around. As a former student of the school I care passionately about giving back to the community and creating opportunities for our young people.
Why I enjoy teaching my subject...
As a teacher of modern foreign languages, I know how the subject can open up young minds – not only to travel and new experiences, but to diverse cultures, new ideas and a new way of looking at life. Learning languages is not only useful and rewarding, but it can be immense fun too!
Miss V Tappous - Assistant Headteacher
Why I enjoy working at RMGS...
I love being part of a school that has such high ambitions for its students. Our staff work hard to develop students in and out of the classroom encouraging them to explore their own voice and interests which creates a dynamic and exciting community spirit. Working with these young people makes me confident that our future is in safe hands.
Why I enjoy teaching my subject...
I enjoy teaching Geography because it is a subject that inspires curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. It equips students with a range of tools to understand and critically evaluate an ever-changing planet and helps them to see their own role as global stewards and change makers. In short, learning about the world can make the world a better place for everyone.
