Absence Reporting Update for all Parents & Carers
We are writing to let you know about a change to how student absences should be reported.
From 07/09/2026, all absences must be recorded using one of the two methods below. These will be the only ways we accept absence notifications going forward.

Using the Arbor App (recommended)
You can continue to report your child’s same day absence in Arbor.
To do this:

Open the Arbor app

Select your child
-
Go to Attendance
-
Tap Report Absence

Enter the dates and reason, then submit
We have attached a ‘How to’ guide from Arbor to this letter if you would like to visualise the process.

NEW Attendance voicemail (you can now report future absences this way)
We have set up a dedicated voicemail service for reporting absences.
To use this:

Call 01634 308609

Leave a short message including:
-
Your child’s full name
-
Their year group/class
-
The reason for absence
-
The date(s) of absence
-
The time your child will be collected from reception and returned to school (if applicable)
Please note:

This is a voicemail-only service — calls will not be answered

Messages are checked regularly by the attendance team

This can be used for both same-day and planned absences (e.g. medical or dental appointments)
Long term absences and special requests (e.g. holiday, performances or sport absence requests) must be emailed in advance to our new Absence email absencereporting@rmet.org
Important
We will no longer accept absence reports via email or calls to any other phone number or email account.
If you wish to, you can still email the student’s pastoral team using the email address below should you require more support if you wish to, AFTER you have reported their absence via Arbor App or the new Attendance Voicemail.
