🌟 Guest Speaker Event: Improving AI Literacy 🌟

Our Year 12 and Year 13 Geography students recently attended an informative presentation on artificial intelligence (AI) delivered by Ka Yi, a Year 3 Mathematics student.
Drawing from her AI Learning Experience Internship, Ka Yi shared valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges presented by AI in education. The session aimed to enhance students' understanding of AI technologies and to encourage the responsible and effective use of these increasingly important tools.
Topics covered during the presentation included:
- Critical AI literacy
- A comparison of popular AI tools
- The benefits and limitations of AI technologies
- Ethical considerations and the responsible use of AI
- AI in higher education and future careers
- Effective applications of AI in Geography studies, including prompt engineering and the use of Gemini Notebook
The session encouraged students to consider how AI can be integrated into their studies while maintaining a thoughtful, critical and responsible approach to its use. Students gained a greater understanding of both the potential and the limitations of AI, as well as the importance of evaluating AI-generated content carefully.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ka Yi for sharing her expertise and experiences with our students. Her presentation provided valuable guidance on navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and inspired students to engage confidently and responsibly with emerging technologies.
