Mr J Wheeler's story
My Grandmother Marjorie was an immigrant from Canada and served in the Women’s Land Army during World War Two. She was a specialist in dealing with working horses on farms and saw ‘The Battle of Britain’ from the Kent Fields below. Together with many others they kept the nation fed. Here she is pictured as a Fire Warden – her role in the evenings. She went on to have three children, many grandchildren and passed away a few years ago, having lived to the age of 98. A good innings.
