Chair of Governor updates
As the Chair of Governors and as a parent, I am delighted to welcome you to the Governors’ section of the Rainham Mark Grammar School website.
We have an extremely active Governing Body at Rainham Mark who work very closely with the Headteacher, and all the staff at the school.
In broad terms, as a Governing Body we:
- Take a strategic role in the running of Rainham Mark Grammar School.
- Act as a critical friend to the School.
- Ensure accountability to the school community.
We work in partnership with the Headteacher and the school staff, taking an active interest in the direction of travel and the improvement plans for the school, as well as financial monitoring. We do not get involved in the day-to-day operation of the school, as this is the responsibility of the teaching and management staff.
For many years now, the school has been recognised as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted – this is a tremendous achievement by everyone involved. As a Governing Body, we are working alongside the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that we maintain this level of performance and commit to continually improving the learning outcomes of all our students.
We are proud of the work the school does in our local community, developing key partnerships with local primary schools and helping the children in our community to obtain a love of learning from a young age.
Our children work hard, and our results demonstrate that all children progress well at both GCSE and A-Level. This is down to the strong leadership and excellent teaching which is prevalent across the school.
There are currently 18 governors at Rainham Mark who are appointed through various routes. There are parent governors, who are elected by the parents themselves, and co-opted governors who are people from our community that can bring skills to the Governing Body to contribute to the School. Co-opted governors are appointed by the Trustees on recommendation by the Governing Body. The board also includes staff governors from both the teaching and support staff who provide a valuable insight into the key issues facing the school on a day to day basis. We have representatives of the school council and the Head boy/girl attend key meetings so we can hear the student voice
We are always keen to hear from anyone who is interested in becoming a governor and of course, if you have any questions or feedback please contact our Clerk email@example.com
With Kind Regards,
