Queen’s Canopy Project

Rainham Mark Grammar School students getting involved in the Queen’s Canopy Project.

On Wednesday 23rd March, 7 students travelled to Riverside Country Park with Mr McDowell and site manager Mr Barron to do their bit for the Queen’s Canopy Project.  Grace and Thomas along with Ciaran, Brooke, Daniel, Rachel and Deborah got stuck in and helped Councillor Martin Potter with this worthwhile and ambitious national project.

The students had a great time enjoying the sunshine and learning about the practicalities of tree planting and maintenance.  The weather also played its part, adding to the buoyant mood of the session.

Mr McDowell treated the students to a well-deserved ice-cream at the end of their exertions in the visitor’s centre.  It really was a delight to see the students engaging with nature and their behaviour was exemplary, as ever.
