Rainham Mark Grammar School championing the arts
On the afternoon of Thursday 20 June 2019 at 4pm, Rainham Mark Grammar School officially opened its new block which houses two stunning art studios and two other classrooms, along with a large foyer for exhibitions. The block was opened by guest of honour, Keith Brymer Jones. Keith, a potter and ceramic designer, was an expert judge on the hit BBC2 show, “The Great Pottery Throw Down” and works from his studio in Whitstable. He is Head of Design at MAKE International, a leading retailer of designer ceramics, and patron of the National Society for Education in Art and Design.
Guests were able to hear Keith talk about the importance of art and the creative subjects in schools, and Alan Moore, Headteacher, restated his ongoing commitment to promoting the arts and creative subjects at the school. The official opening was followed by a chance to see an exhibition of GCSE and A level art by current students in the foyer and new classrooms, and by a lovely afternoon tea on the grassy terrace outside the new art studios.
