Art
Art and Design gives students the opportunity not just to develop their practical skills but to learn about art and design and the importance of visual culture in the world. Students learn to understand and evaluate artwork, discuss ideas and develop their own work in response to what they have learnt.
They study the work of artists, craftspeople and designers from a range of cultures and styles, past and present. They are encouraged to observe and record accurately and to be creative and imaginative.
As part of a balanced curriculum, art helps students to appreciate the visual and to make informed aesthetic choices. It encourages persistence and concentration, and the organisational skills required to go through the process of creating artwork as an individual or in a group.
The Art Department has 3 staff and 3 well equipped rooms for 2D and 3D work.
